I had forgotten how addictive cross stitch is, when Needleworks arrived, I couldn't help but did out my embroidery threads. This has prompted my daughter to pick up her french knitting which she seems to find just as addictive. So we sit like 2 old ladies in the evening doing our craft. Every now and then I need to step in and pick up a dropped stitch.
I used to adore french knitting as a child, I remember doing one that went on for miles. What craft did you enjoy when you were little?
I loved french knitting! I had 'Knitting Nancy' which was painted to look like a person and I spent many hours making a long red worm, which eventually got coiled up to make a mat, I think!
ReplyDeleteI used to love my French knitting too - I had a little king to do mine on. I don't recall that I ever actually made anything with the yards and yards of knitting, but it was satisfying to do! I also used to do cross-stitch - I had a little set of cards with punched holes and a plastic needle with some wool. I'd spend hours doing those pictures.
ReplyDeleteOh, I've just seen the comment above - mine was called Knitting Nancy too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to make a mat, I wonder what happened to my miles of knitting!
ReplyDeleteSo many! Cross stitch, junk modelling (usually reserved for weekends), I also had a flower loom. And a beading loom. my mum was a great craft enthusiast! ( sewing too of course) I like that you both share your crafting time together in the evenings. My boys weren't interested - except in junk modelling ! ( and Lego)
ReplyDeleteMaking friendship bracelets! I made tonnes of the things
ReplyDeleteOh I loved french knitting - can't wait 'til the girls grow an attention span longer than eating a biscuit!
ReplyDeleteI loved the Galt pattern colouring books - I think I will ask Santa for one!
I did not know it was called French knitting (ironic as I am French). I was really into cross-stitching when I was younger. I loved the different colours, but the back was never very good - had to learn that later.
ReplyDeleteI loved something called hair-pin lace. Do you know what that is?
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean about cross-stitch being addictive.
ReplyDeleteWhen Mrs Jason is doing one, she can spend hours without talking to me whilst concentrating.
That's why I've bought her a load of patterns for Xmas!!!! (Only joking, honest1)
Oh I loved making friendship bracelets too, made hundreds of them!
ReplyDeleteChris - I haven't heard of hair pin lace - what is it?
Jason, your secret is safe with me, I won't tell Mrs Jason...
I loved French Knitting - my mum used to buy me variagated wool.
