Book give away: Craft it Up Around the World

I'm very excited to be able to host a give-away for this lovely new book: Craft It Up Around the World by Libby Abadee and Cath Armstrong.

There are 35 crafty projects (perfect for the Summer holidays) inspired by traveling adventures. I particularly like this Eiffel Tower embroidery project - great timing with our recent Tour de France cycling successes.

The wonderful thing about this book is that you don't need a huge supply of random crafting materials to complete the projects, so you can get making straight away.

All you have to do to win (and this is open to the UK only) is leave a comment below saying what your favourite crafting activity was as a child. Mine were making pom-poms and french knitting, hours of fun.

Leave your comment below by 28th July 8pm BST and I will announce a winner next week - good luck!

  1. My favourite crafting fun as a child was potato stamping :) I loved it, I think I stamped everything. Much to my poor mothers dismay!
Second favourite was modelling with plascticine, but why do all the colours go that muddy brown blech colour after a while, I used to get so upset lol

  8. As I kid I loved 'colouring - in' but not just any colouring - in, oh no, very highly detailed colour blended colouring - in. I used to spend hours perfecting it....No going out the lines for me.

  9. We used to make tiny villages complete with a bakery out of garden clay. The bakery always had a little oven with a top and bottom. Once the village dried a bit we'd stuff wood shavings into the bottom of the oven and set them alight so that we could roast crumbs in the top section. This was in the 'good old days' when parents smoked, left matches lying around and children were not so closely monitored as they are today : )

  14. I used to love making clothes for my Barbies out of bits of cut off fabric my mum had used. They didn't always fit mind you and were a bit unravelled around the edges but perfect to my Barbie (or so she told me!)

  15. I used to make necklaces from newspaper. You cut the paper into long triangles and roll them over a pin, glue the ends and when they are dry paint them and string them. I also made necklaces from melon seeds. I must have had patience even in my younger days. jennylarking@gmail.com

I didn't really do much craft as a child BUT I was obsessed with my "Horses" Fuzzy Felts and used to make endless pictures of my dream riding and show jumping adventures! I lost the original set but my lovely husband bought me a replacement and I still get them out every year at Christmas and have a play! xx :D xx :D

  22. My favourite crafty passtime as a child was knitting with my nan, my gauge was so off that my very first scarf was about 8 inches wide at one end and only an inch wide at the other, but when I proudly presented it to my nan she was utterly delighted.

  23. I used to love going to the local haberdashery/fabric shop and choosing fabrics for clothes for my mum to make me. I then played around with the leftover fabrics on my mums sewing machine, making bits for me and dolls. I remember her traditional Singer machine, the smell of it in the box. I was fascinated how it worked. Now I'm doing the same with my own daughter (slightly different machine though, and a pink one which she loves!)which is so fantastic!!
