and so on ...

The sea, the sun,

the sand, the sandcastles,

the digging and digging and digging,

the waking, the walking, the endless feeding and eating,

the drawing, the picking, the sewing,

 the watching, the waiting...

the memories, the summer holidays.

Summer Holidays : : part 1 : :

The beaches of my home town in Poole always seem like a treat after the steep, rocky beaches of Brighton.

This is my favourite place in the world, the view from Evening Hill at Sandbanks, photographed nearly every day last week, it was hard not to.

I also had fun playing with my new(ish) toy.

Picked up old projects...

and revived even older craft skillz...

Watched in vain for meteors (without any luck)...

Did a bit of rag rolling, inspired by this video...

 did a spot of crabbing...

and back to that view, hope you are having a good August

New in: Hand Drawn Garden and Kona Dimensions

In bringing back some of her favorite prints and palettes from past collections Garden Party & Drawing Room, Anna Maria Horner has created the collection 'Hand Drawn Garden'

I have selected a few of my favourite prints for M is for make, this print in particular holds a special place in my heart as it was one of the first fabrics I bought online and started me on a journey that ended at M is for make. I made a cushion from it that still adorns our sofa today.

Also new in are Kona Dimensions, like a Kona solid but with a subtle honeycomb print making it a brilliant blender.

Holiday opening hours update

I hope you are all having a lovely summer. Thank you for your patience with my sporadic opening during the school summer hols (which I think I will need a holiday to recover from).

So far it has been an enormously busy and activity filled holiday which is brilliant when trying to shake off the cobwebs of school, but conversely I do feel like we are flying along on a roller-coaster through the holidays.

Still, there has been time to go on actual roller-coasters, buy flowers and cook summer fruit puddings. We have admired London from up high and it's taller inhabitants from down low.

Visited dinosaur bones,

watched bubbles in the park,

and really made the best of the sunniest British Summer I can remember for a while.

But the real reason for this post is to let you know that I will be closed again next week to do a bit more of the above, and all orders placed between 11th and 16th August will be posted from 17th August.

Happy holidays,
Kate

New shades of grey

I've had loads of new Kona fabrics arriving over the last few weeks, including brand new colours like Wasabi, Valentine and Pewter which are new to Kona this Summer. They are all rather lovely, do let me know if you think there is a colour I am lacking, I don't want to suggest that I order them based on what looks pretty and takes my fancy. But really, that is my highly secretive, advanced buying technique.

Also in are some great new Brussels Washer colours, this rayon/linen blend is extra wide, drapey and perfect for dressmaking. And look, here is it in your favourite yarn dyed shades, denim and black.

There is also in silver and charcoal. If you were thinking it would make a great dress, then you would be right.

These great squared elements blenders are also new in... yes, you could use a few of those in your stash.

There are even some lovely Blythe prints in too, yes that rose print is pretty nice.

Well, I think that's everything, personally I am holding my breath as Koi and Tule are expected this month.

I should also mention that next week (12th - 16th August) I shall be closed again in my attempts to juggle motherhood/school holidays/working. So bear with me till September when all shall return to relative normality.
